ON SCHOOLS SHARING LESSON MONEY WITH TEACHERS By BELIEVE IBOYI

The issue of schools sharing lesson money with teachers is an old strategy that worked well for some schools in the past but isn't working again.

Some of the worse cold war I have experienced in schools is when teachers feel dissatisfied with the money received during lesson money sharing.

I hate nonsense and have low chill for whatever that sap my energy unnecessarily. When we work with schools and this mundane issue of lesson fee sharing comes up, I tell the schools to build a time table that start from morning till evening 4pm closing or anytime they close and the name lesson must never be mentioned in the school time table.

The challenge with the sharing is the method of collection of these monies from the students because the teachers have a share in it.

√ Some schools allow teachers to collect directly and share based on how much collected at the mid term and /or end of term

√ while some schools collect from students and pay teachers and must pay full whether or not the entire students pay or not

This will generate into who will keep the money, using a separate school account, calculating who has paid and not paid when its time for sharing. Then some teachers who have more students in their classes want to be paid more and then it leads to collect and give the school commission based on the amount you collected - the whole thing seem Very ridiculous to me.

I have seen and dealt with too many unpleasant situations of this nature:

I. Parents not wanting to pay and excluding their children

2. Teachers forcing students to pay the lesson fee to the detriment of school fees etc

From my consulting angle, I have always said school owners are doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

The sharing formula isn't even an issue, because it shouldn't even happen in the first place. That everybody does it doesn't make it right.

These are the reasons some schools will always remain "low earning mushroom schools", as there is no standard whatsover.

Who even started this sharing of lesson money by teachers sef, that person need to be flogged.

Here is/are my recommendations :

Don't even collect lesson money in your school. Read it again, do not collect lesson money in your school, rather Sum up all your money and charge on a lump sum tuition fee and then pay your teachers accordingly.

In every right thinking progressive business, staff salary is paid from profits not product

As a parent, why should I pay for tuition fee and still pay for lesson fee within the same day academic work day - the whole thing is irritating.

School owners are getting away with this seeming fraud because we have a lot of gullible parents ( or rather parents who just want their children to stay in school till late in the evening)

√ as a school, close your school when appropriate ( 2;30 or whatever time you close) and let your school work run till that closing time.

And after closing you still have parents who's kids stay behind, kindly start an after school service: this is more acceptable.

Some teachers can then be assigned and paid for over time - that is standard labour rules

If as a school, you need ways to make your teachers to become your shareholders, there are better and smart ways to go about this and we have been able to establish such for schools.

I believe in your success
